Your relationship with food changes dramatically as you continue to spiritually ascend which is something that is often overlooked or dismissed within the spiritual community. At times your guides may ask for you to fast for clarity or for you to purge energies out of your system. Or they will make you fast involuntarily if you refuse to willingly change your eating habits. As your guides teach you to eat-to-live instead of live-to-eat, you may find your appetite disappears and the things that you once consumed may repulse you or cause distress on your digestive system. In the medical community this is called avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) and it unfortunately is a common symptom of the spiritual awakening process, especially within the early stages.
ARFID is dangerous, but can be managed with assistance and therapy. Do not be afraid to seek help for ARFID from certified counselors - especially if you have a prior history of eating disorders. In the meantime, use good intuitive eating habits and ask your body what it wants to eat and eat those things that appeal to you (safely, of course). If your body wants something fresh, eat a salad or drink a smoothie. If it wants chocolate cake for breakfast, then give it to it! If it wants mac-n-cheese for the fifth time this week, then oblige! The important thing is to keep up your strength and be kind to yourself as your body adjusts.
