The Difference Between Being Prepared and Being Ready

Updated: May 12, 2022

I was scared to death when I was called by God to align my path with his that he had prepared for me! I understood the enormity of the situation and how much of an honor this was for the divine to offer me favor. The alignment shifts that had to take place to put me on track with God's plan happened at break-neck speed. Jumping timelines at divine speed is disconcerting, overwhelming, and blissful all at once. So in order to maintain a modicum of control I focused on getting prepared for it as much as I could.

I spent every moment getting prepared for my new journey. I am the queen of prep so this was right up my alley. I listened to my guides and did what they told me. I was instructed to read certain books, buy tarot and oracle cards, meditation mats, pendulums, crystals, etc. And I bought it ALL. However, I was just stockpiling a bounty of spiritual tools in my office. Many still were wrapped in cellophane. I never read a single tarot card. My beautiful zafu and zabuton took up space on my office floor, but remained unused. After awhile my spirit guides had had enough. They asked why I refused to use the spiritual tools I had hoarded. I said, I was preparing. My guides patiently reminded me that I could spend all of my time preparing but that had little to do with actually being ready. They said, "You're ready NOW. You were made for this journey. Leap little one."

I was stuck in a preparation loop that was really a procrastination loop in disguise. I thought I had to have and know it ALL before I could start my mission to help others reawaken. Spirit reminded me that being prepared is wonderful, but that I must learn on the job and I'm ready for this assignment now. I'm needed NOW. Spirit wouldn't have bothered me to call me if I wasn't ready. So regardless of how prepared I felt I accepted that I was ready. I unwrapped all the packages and dug into the work. It wasn't long afterwards that I received my first client and the opportunity to prove my readiness and resourcefulness.

So my point to you is to not confuse preparation with readiness. Preparation is only one component of readiness. Most are ready long before they feel prepared. Don't use preparedness as an excuse not to start. Leap and you will find that you are more ready and prepared than you ever realized.
